Ebi

Ebi has been such a trooper this past month! The whole family leaving her for a week, a new apartment added to her other houses, a new schedule, and alone time in a strange new place is a lot to deal with for anyone, especially a pug! After a couple of weeks of a few sleepless nights (for all of us) and anxious days, I finally get the feeling that Ebi is feeling at home in her new apartment and loving it! Ebi still gets to go to grandmas for babysitting sessions and sleepovers, as well as relaxing in her new chair watching the animal planet at the apartment! We love EBI!!!

Here are a couple of pictures to celebrate our sweet mutt!!

p.s. Check out her blog too (the link is on this page)!

The Evolution of Malm

Last week mom and dad bought us this great bed set: The Malm! It is so comfortable and so nice! We love it! Thanks so much momma and dad! Love you!

John

Poor John had to end his holiday plumbing, our kitchen sink clogged! Good thing he had a tasty bite to eat before the hard work began!

I Love a Parade

On the 24th of July there is a parade that goes right in front of the family home in Cottonwood!! It is so fun, kids through tons of candy at you, there are floats and a marching band. It is so fun! Small town feel in the suburbs of a big city! You can't get more American that this parade! Here are some highlights:

Running Around

On Friday John and I went camping and canoeing with our dear friend Michelle and her mom Clea! We had so much fun and came home absolutely exhausted - that's a pretty good sign that we had a blast! So nice to see Michelle (as always)! I didn't take any action pictures of us canoeing, we were scared the camera would get wet - Just imagine us with life jackets and paddles in the middle of a big lake!!

Movie at the Park

Every Monday throughout the summer at the Gallivan Center in Downtown SLC there is a movie in the park! You take a blanket, a pillow and snacks and enjoy a flick under the stars!! The movies are put on by the Sundance Institute and highlight a number of movies from a wide range of themes that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Monday was the Truman Show. John and I had a blast watching a movie on a big screen in the middle of a park in the middle of the city! Aren't we so urban chic?!! The middle of the movie was highlighted by a small rain storm! What Fun!!

Walking to the car, I thought about the movie we just watched and it left me wondering, with all of the hype and craziness of reality TV these days, is it probable that the Truman Show isn't far off from our own "reality" world!? Somehow I wouldn't be surprised if we as earthlings were really some contained world of "reality" entertainment for an alien race! As humans, we have to be pretty strange and interesting characters to watch.

next monday they are showing the British comedy, Kinky Boots, based on a true story! We'll be there, the question is.. will you?

Talk About Being Caught with Your Pants Down

Funny story:

The other day I was standing in the kitchen next to the bar talking to John.. telling him some very important, quite serious (I'm Sure :)!)story when all of a sudden.. out of the blue, John reaches down and yanks off my loose workout shorts. I was shocked! There I was lost in a sentence looking down at my shorts resting on top of my barefeet in the middle of the kitchen. I couldn't believe it! Did he really just do that?

I was standing there in my panties and speechless trying to remember when, if ever, someone had pants'd me before! John of course bursts out laughing and I try to hold back laughter and act pissed, but I finally explode into laughs (I'm always up for a good laugh.. even if it is at my own expense)!!

We laughed and laughed until our bellies hurt! Oh the joys of newly-wed life!! I wouldn't give it up for anything! I love John so much!

Now that I have retained my speech back, I have a warning for my husband - you better start wearing a belt mister! Sometime, in someplace I am so going to get you good!

Celebration!

Jane's Garden

On Saturday July 14th was John and I's return home wedding party! I was planning on taking alot of pictures, but we got so busy talking and greeting that we didn't have time to eat dinner, let alone take a bunch of pictures.

The party was beautiful and so much fun! The beauty of Jane's wonderful garden was only superceded by the overwelming love and support that John and I felt from everyone that came to celebrate our new marriage!! Thank you Thank you!!

Hopefully someone took some pictures... if not, we'll just have to remember the magic without visual reminders! I do wish that everyone could have seen how cute Ebi looked in her purple orchid lei!!! DARLING!!

Thank you especially to our parents for their unbreakable love and support! What would we do without you!!??

We love you!

UMFA

I have a special attachment to this work. This is a Pre-Columbian figure, very old and I'm proud to show him off in selfish reasons as the first museum object of my career that I have successfully preserved. I had the base and the plexi glass made. I covered the base with hemp fabric (hemp is archival safe and acid free) then I attached the object to the base through a complicated process of fishing line and nails careful to not hurt the object or alter it at all! It is especially tricky in the education collection that I work in because this figure as well as about 800 other objects are not just displayed in the museum, but rather they are sent out to schools throughout the city to be used as "hands-on" teaching tools for children. The true test of my skill will be time. If it can survive through hundreds of children's hands then I have succeeded!

I thought I would post a few more pictures of our trip... mostly because I wish I was back there in that moment!!

PaintJam

My cute new sister Rachel sent a YouTube video link to me today that was absolutely amazing!

Dan Dunn is the artist featured in the video. The five minute video films him as he creates a large canvas work in in front of an audience! The final work was really cool! Painting in a performance art setting - I love it! Can it get any better than that?

I'm dying to see him perform live! (So much in fact that I already emailed him to see if I could book him and get him to Utah to do an event for the Student Museum Advisory Council that I'm a part of! hehe) If you haven't see him already, be prepared to be amazed!

Thanks for the tip Rach! This guy is great!
