Pumpkin Carving

This weekend John and I had our annual pumpkin carving private party! Talk about VIP!!

Carving pumpkins is one of our first holiday experiences that John and I did together when we were dating! Arguably, this single event last time around solidified our fate as being a forever type of couple! This tradition continues to be such a blast! This year we moved the venue from the Jane Ream Residence to the JA Residence! We laid out plastic on our living room floor and carved away!!

Today

I would like to wish everyone a very happy Reamer Day!

Amsterdam

Ever since I got home from a family trip to Europe as a little adult I have wanted to go back! Amsterdam is one of my all time favorite cities and secretly I have always dreamed about living there!! Today as I looked through one of my favorite sites, I ran into this picture and it made me want to set these ol' eyes on my beloved city again (maybe with a bunch of luggage this time)! If you look at the picture closely, you will see that this flat lies directly on the canal..with a boat passing by and all!! How beautiful!

Post Frenzy

I decided that since I was sick in bed today I would waste some time away by catching up on some posts!

Ebi and Her Skippy Jar

One of Ebi's favorite treats is peanut butter. The other day when the peanut butter jar was nearly empty I gave the remains to the pug! She loved it! She started with the peanut butter jar in the kitchen wedged under the corner of the fridge to be able to get optimal leverage of getting that long pink tongue in the jar. All of a sudden I looked up and Ebi had dissapeared from the fridge! My search for her ended in bed where Ebi had carried the jar into the bedroom and on the bed to finish her evening snack!! So Cute! I had to take a bunch of pictures! I think Skippy should hire Ebi to be their next poster child!

SMAC and Warhol

Wednesday October 17th was the student party for the Warhol exhibit at the UMFA hosted by SMAC! Here are a few pics to highlight the party. We had tomato soup (very warholesque), screenprinting demos, glam stations and music! The event was a hit! We had over 400 people show up! Go SMAC!

Home Sick

I've been home sick the past couple of days. My whole body aches, I have a headache, a fever, and a sorethroat... I would recommend getting a flu shot because I am so miserable! Save Yourself and think of me here in quarentine! xo!

Ebi

I'm having a hard time keeping up with John and I's blog, let alone Ebi's. I think from now on I am going to combine the blogs onto this blog. Sorry Pug!

To begin, here are three pictures of our cute little pug celebrating her dad's birthday!

Man Ray sold!

Back in June I wrote a post about a signed Man Ray poster that I was researching. I want to give an update. I did learn that Man Ray had attended the opening that the poster is acknowledging! He did sign some posters although the number is unknown. Based on this information, I was able to sell the poster to my professor of Contemporary Art for $500.00!! Thanks Monty!

witches brew

This weekend was wet, and cold. A small snow storm instantly brought me to tears, but I decided to change my attitude and look at my cup of warm hot chocolate as being half full rather than half empty. It is true that my sock-less flip-flopped feet are colder these days and I've spent more time in my sweats than I'd like to admit, but I realized hey! what the hell, its time to start appreciating my enviroment! After all, how many people get to live in a four season climate and witness and experience firsthand the constantly changing beauty that is unique and wonderful to every individual season?! How amazing to be able to see the cycle of life changing and molding right before our very eyes!

Saying that, I spent this weekend changing our decor from summer/tropical to fall/Halloween (did I mention that Halloween is my very favorite holiday of all?)! The house now pleasantly smells of burning candles and soup. There are owls and skulls, colorful leaves and gourds mixed with fall flowers picked at my front door and candle light filling the house with warmth and fun ghoulish spirits! I must admit, the change of seasons has inspired me to clean the house, be more artistic and cook warm treats that warm stomachs and hearts as the weather gets colder!

Do I dare say it? Can it be true? I'm loving fall!! Maybe its a brain cramp or some overwhelming sense of happiness that I can't shake being a newly wed, but somethings wrong. I shouldn't be out of mourning for my summer already??!! Wait my feet are cold, that sucks.. I do miss summer... but not as much as I thought I would.

Well anyway, while I try to figure out my mixed up feelings, here is a tribute of an unusual kind to the fall:

Artist and hoaxer, Laura Keeble, became well-known for her reactive piece against Damien Hirst's multiple million dollar art work, skull. However she depicted her 6522 Swarovski crystal version of the skull as nothing more than trash being haphazardly set atop a pile of throw-aways that appears to be ready for pick-up. What a statement!

Damien Hirst created and covered a skull with over 1100+ carats of diamonds and was just sold to an investment firm for over $100 million dollars (talk about elitest, rich white man art). Check it out below! I think I like Keeble's version better!

Keeble dabbles in death with her newest public works of art in the form of spray-painted polystyrene and plaster headstones. The project was based on the theory of magical thinking, looking at belief systems and idol worship(Chanel'lo!!), and creating an intervention that like other works, plays with the viewers perception and creates a pause for thought!
