Those aren't seagulls

Today I need to post an old event because it is so amazing!
Bare with me as we go back to Mon Feb. 18..

On Monday for President's Day John and I went with my darling parents up north to search for eagles. We went to the nature preserve at Farmington Bay and as we drove out over the beautiful tundra we began to see hundreds of black dots randomly marking the ground for miles and miles. Excitedly, we pulled the truck over and got out the binoculars for a closer inspection. As I focused my binoculars on a group of the dots I was simply blown away at the amazing scene before me. There were literally hundreds and hundreds of bald eagles spread all over the landscape!! The ground, the trees and the sky were full of them! There were so many it looked like a typical Utah landscape with seagulls everywhere. Except this time the state bird was no where to be found and in their place was our beautiful and majestic national bird! (*I must add that I am one of the few people that actually really like seagulls! So no offense to the great seagull, but this sight was incredible)

I am not a very patriotic person, I tend to feel more disappointed than proud often times of the US. However, this scene definitely made me feel little pin pricks of excitement and pride. After all the hard work trying to bring back the depleted bald eagle population, they have made an amazing comeback. Our country can actually care about our wild creatures and can impact them in a good way by raising awareness. The bald eagle is an amazing success story of bringing an animal on the brink of extinction back to healthy numbers and a thriving population!! This makes me truly happy!

How fun to see hundreds and hundreds of bald eagles on President's Day! Now that's my idea of patriotism! This is definitely a new tradition!

Happy Birthday Ebi!!

Today is Ebi's 5th Birthday!!

I was hoping to upload a bunch of pictures of her when she was a puppy (she was so cute!) but unfortunately they are packed away and unreachable! None the less, these are a few pictures(I have hundreds of her!)that really capture the life and sweet spirit of our fun pug! In dog years, Ebi is now older than both John and I. Poor thing, as the oldest, she now has to take care of us and that is more than a full time job!

Happy Birthday Ebi!! We Love You!

(for those of you that are thinking we are totally off our rockers.. you are right, we're freaks! Ebi is our child with fur! We love her and yes we do celebrate her birthday.. get over it)

Maybe I Should Go to Sotheby's London, Apparently I'd fit right in

You Belong in London

A little old fashioned, and a little modern.

A little traditional, and a little bit punk rock.

A unique soul like you needs a city that offers everything.

No wonder you and London will get along so well.

It's kind of like sleeping in a fish tank

Today while doing research for the museum about Istanbul Turkey, I ran across this little gem of an idea. Someone is building an underwater hotel in Istanbul that will open in 2010. The hotel is going to be seven stories under the water and hold a seven star rating (is that even possible??). A similiar concept is being developed for a hotel in Fiji. Talk about sleeping with the fishes! Imagine waking up underwater! Talk about rocking your boat!

Toothless Wonder

It has been a while since I have blogged. I wanted to start the updates with these two images of Super Pug (aka Ebi). Our sweet pup went to the vet Friday Feb. 15th for a teeth cleaning. They ended up having to pull 10 teeth!! Pugs are notorious for having bad teeth! She was such a trooper! I would be in a coma if they pulled ten of my teeth, but ebi has bounced right back! The instant she got home (documented in the pictures above) she was way out of it, she couldn't even hold her tongue in her mouth and yet she instantly wanted a snack! Turkey lunch meat hit the spot! Food is the center of a pug's universe! Obviously!

Happy

We wanted to wish you all a very happy Valentine's Day!
Valentine's Day is such a nice and oh so welcome holiday in the middle of dreary and grey February! Even when I was single, I still always loved Valentine's. Whether getting drunk with other singles, watching romantic movies with my dog, or cuddling up with the one I love more than anything (I prefer the last one!!), it is always nice to celebrate the spirit of love in all of its many forms!

As a side note, I am working tonight at the restaurant instead of spending the evening with my reamer (Valentine's unfortunately is a mandatory day for the restaurant business). For those of you going out, remember that the people serving you are away from their loved ones.. be nice to us. (Even though working in a kitchen you don't get tips.. it is nice to know that someone working is getting good compinsation!) We work very hard! Tip your servers well people!! Spread the Love!

I Picked Tails

It's only Tuesday and I already feel like I have been ran over by a bus! The week is only going to get crazier! Where the hell is my clone?

I have recently added a new blog to my treasured blog list: Sharon Monrose. She is a gifted photographer who makes her living taking great images, like the one above, of beloved fur friends (I want her job!). Since I look at my pug as a child with fur.. this new blog find is a gem that instantly brightens my day each and every day! Check her out!

I dream of Paris

As the weekend lights begin to twinkle I can't help but wish I was in Paris today.

I have had a desire to go back to France for quite some time and it keeps getting stronger and stronger! With my week discussions having centered around French Adventures, travel, wine, culture, love and other intrigues.. I long to have the sun fall on my face as the cold nips at my nose..in Paris with the Eiffel Tower looming in the distance.

I've tried to transport myself there many times today. Walking outside, looking up, feeling the sun stretch down and tap me on the shoulder. I long to see what the sun looks like and feels like through a Parisan light. My sunglasses shield me from the brightness of her rays and yet I long to have them engulf me, tickle my cheeks and hug me with warmth. I long for art, wine before noon, fashion, hearing French as I stroll through the streets having the old architecture greet me at every step. I close my eyes and dream of Paris hoping that when I open them I will be there, bathed in Dior goodness.

I open my eyes and sadly it doesn't work. I'll try again later.

Today I dream of Paris, I could stay here all weekend long.
