LOST

What an interesting turn of events... so Charles Widmore has been on the island before! Well this is very exciting news.

and I don't know about anyone else, but my constant desire to learn latin was just enhanced tenfold after last nights episode.

Happy Chinese New Year

The Year of the Ox

Weekend Update

Are you sure it is already Monday? This can't be right. The weekend can't be over already.
This morning I woke up with a groogy and confused face. A face kind of like this:
huh?? I have to work and go to school today? I am still in a hazy dazy of fog and confusion. It seems unatural to be at work and back in classes today. I need to be sleeping, or cuddled in bed with a good book. So why not waste time at work and blog.

The quick paced weekend: A weekend update:

We drove through dense fog, a rare treat here in the desert!

John and I went to Brewvies, drank a pitcher of beer each! (I know what you are thinking, I am such a badass ha!) and watched James Bond Quantum of Solace. Why I love Brewvies: you can eat good food and drink beer while watching a film. The atmosphere is fun and I always get a kick out of the traffic of people leaving the theatre every two minutes to either get more beer or go pee from drinking too much beer. I don't know why but it makes me chuckle.

The movie itself was entertaining but not excellent. I liked Casino Royale much better although I do love that the new Bond, Daniel Craig, gets the shit kicked out of him (and he is pretty nice to look at).

We went to yoga.

I spent a whole day in bed watching the Food Network. I finally managed to get up around 6pm and make spaghetti.

made pancakes

spent a full day in work mode trying to catch up on the entire wasted day before. This included writing an exhibition review, reading, doing TA work, reading, going to dinner at the Red Iguana with mom and dad, reading, sleeping.

All in all, the quick weekend was a good one.

LOST

As some of you know, I really love my tv. I am not one of those student types that stick up their nose and declare that they don't own a tv, that they never watch tv and that in general tv is slowly poisoning the intellectual world. I think those people are really missing out on some really great entertainment. I also believe that these types are complete liars. They are like drug addicts in the bathroom snorting cocaine at a party or secretly smoking weed at home when no one else is around. When they think no one is watching, they pop down in front of the glowing television screen and watch Tyra. These people have a problem.

I love my tv. As much as I love the history channel, the food network, and PBS, I must admit that I love trashy tv just as much.America's Next Top Model, The Hills, Tori and Dean, they fill me with a electric zap of secret delight. A rush of consumer culture that leaves me wanting more and more! After all the education I am getting god dammit I deserve some mindless entertainment!

Above all else, I love Lost. Lost is not mindless but rather highly complex, with twists and turns, subplots, and strange connections. Of all the little treats in tv land, Lost is my very favorite! I can watch it over and over again (and I have). Last night marked the beginning of Season 5. Let me just say it was so so so so good! Time warps, hatches, deception, assassins, fiery bows and arrows, running away, and reunions. oh, can life get any better.

i can't wait for next week.

Reading

So once again I find myself not updating the poor blog. It is amazing how a thing that only exists in some invisible reality can cause me so much shame and guilt for not being more attentive.
So today, as a quick attempt to update and move forward I will list random things floating in my head. For those of you that have ever watched Lost, this might be familiar, recap in 8 minutes..

1. I have pictures from Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day really I do.. I even have them in a folder labeled 'best of intentions' to post.. well that didn't happen.

2. In your mind picture fun.

3. For Halloween John and I dressed up as CSI agents. Mine was overtly sexualized and I continued to question while I was wearing it why the men's costume was a practical jumpsuit and the women's consisted of a tight dress with a two way zipper? My feminist theory rears its ugly head once again.

4. we watched as the life slipped out of my grandfather. He died the day before Thanksgiving.

5. we cried

6. John and I hosted Thanksgiving at Cove House this year. We cooked, we decorated, we entertained, we were really quite proud of ourselves. Despite the lose of my grandpa, we laughed and had a great time.. it was a good distraction.

5. The Holidays were beautiful, I wrote and did research, then decorated gingerbread houses, than ate, ate, ate and ate some more, then opened presents, ate.

6. New Years marks my sweet mom's birthday. We snowshoed, laughed, and ate dinner and cake at Cove House.

7. I rested for a week. I worked, watched movies, read a book (that didn't involve any sort of research!), I cuddled with my honey and played with Ebi.

8. We joined the gym. I have vowed this new year to work on my fitness and go to the dentist. That is all I have to do. My fitness is going well... yoga twice a week, gym three times a week, walks and outdoor sports the rest of the time. As for going to the dentist, well... I'm thinking about working on it.

9. We had Jane and Merlin over for dinner

10. John left for Africa

11. school started. Back to having my head lost in a book 24/7

12. I discover mice in the house.

13. my dad and I kill two mice. I feel bad.

14. I find a beautiful vintage lamp

15. I buy it

16. I go to yoga with mom and dad

17. eat dinner

18. hang out with Rachel

19. spend lots of good quality time with my family and myself!

20. my TA post begins (cue Darth Vader theme)

21. Ebi gets a bath

22. I read, write, read, read, read, read, highlight, read, read, make notes

23. John returns

24. YEAH!!

25. we hug, we kiss

26. John goes to school

27. work, school, work, school, read

28. one of my old docents at the museum points to my belly and asks if I am pregnant, maybe I need to hit the gym harder.. or slap the docent.

29. A new season of Lost begins tonight at 9/8c.

end of update.
